Ecostatic Technology

“Possession of a pathogen in your space means that you have taken ownership of the risks and liabilities associated with unhealthy surfaces. The demands, costs, and personnel required to stay ahead of mobile pathogens without the use of technology makes the expectation of proper surface disinfection unrealistic. Proper surface disinfection is not possible without the assistance of advanced application technologies.”

What is Ecostatic Technology?

Electrostatics is the process of adding an electrical charge to the liquid droplets when they are sprayed. This makes the droplet electrically stronger than the surface or the item you are treating. Just like magnets, they are drawn to each other and attach when one surface is more positively charged than the other. As most surfaces are either negative or neutral, the dispersed droplets spread out more evenly and seek out a negative or neutral surface. The end result is that the liquid can be applied faster, using less liquid and achieving a more complete coverage of the surface.

This is important because the liquid agents you choose work best when they are given an opportunity to electrically attach to a surface. Treating three dimensional surfaces effectively is generally not possible without leveraging a liquid adhesion technology like electrostatics

The unique technology enables the electrical charge to be applied inside the droplet instead of attaching it to the outside of the droplet like many other electrostatic sprayers do. This enables the droplets to keep there charge for longer and ensures that you get the full effect of the electrostatic technology.

While professional disinfecting is the best way to combat bacteria and viruses, including COVID-19, not all professionals have the same licensure, experience, and equipment to properly fight COVID-19. So, before you hire someone to disinfect your premises, check out these must-knows when it comes to cleaning for coronavirus.

Know the difference between Cleaning, Sanitising or Disinfecting

In today's world, and more than ever before, we are seeing and hearing terms like cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting in the news, on social media, in our schools and even in our local supermarkets. We should all understand that products and processes have varying effectiveness against viruses and bacteria.

  • CLEANING is done with water, a cleaning product, and scrubbing. Cleaning does not kill bacteria, viruses, or fungi, which are generally referred to as “germs.” Cleaning products are used to remove germs, dirt, and other organic material by washing them down the drain.

  • SANITIZING products are chemicals that work by lowering the number of germs on surfaces or objects to a safe level,

  • DISINFECTING products are used to kill and eliminate many or all pathogenic microorganisms. In most cases, a cleaning product is used first. Then the surface is either sanitized or disinfected when it is necessary. The process of sanitizing or disinfecting should not be used as a substitute for cleaning. This is line with the World Health Organisation guidelines.

Have a Cleaning Plan in place

You should work with your cleaning provider or team to ensure the following measures are covered:

  • CLEANING SCHEDULE - agree a daily cleaning specification with the cleaning team or service provider to ensure all areas are cleaned the recommended twice per day. This specification should also included the main touch points throughout the building.

  • SCHEDULED DISINFECTION - some clients schedule a monthly Ecostatic Disinfection to ensure the premises remain safe and germ free. This process is in addition to the regular daily cleaning service but does add an additional layer of safety using our industrial chemicals and Electrostatic sprayers.

  • SUSPECTED or CONFIRMED COVID19 CASE - in the unfortunate event that someone in the building is a suspect or confirmed case of Covid19, ensure there is a plan in place to isolate them onsite and close off the affected areas. Contract our Area Manager immediately to arrange for our Specialised Disinfection Technicians to completely disinfect the area, Once the areas are treated, please allow for 30-60 minutes drying time before reentering the areas.

Understand the Disinfection Process & Products used

Our highly trained technicians use the latest Electrostatic Technology in conjunction with our range of products that are approved by the Department of Agriculture. The disinfection process will involve the following steps:

  • CLOSE OFF THE INFECTED AREA  - make sure the area is closed off from everyone. Our technicians will only arrive onsite in full head to toe PPE clothing. All technicans will wear full face respiratory masks. They will ensure the area is sealed off until after the drying process is completed.

  • MEASURE CLEANLINESS - our ATP Monitoring allows our trained technicians to measure and evaluate contaminants on a surface before and after cleaning and disinfection. The AFM Ireland technicians will take a sample using a special swab and then inserting into the ATP meter. A numerical value is returned and allows us to measure cleanliness based on pre-defined ranges of values. The testing process ensures the disinfection process is completed correctly and successful.

  • ELIMINATE BACTERIA & APPLY A PROTECTIVE SHIELD - our high level disinfectant products are used to breakdown proteins and lipids  which are the essential components of bacteria, viruses, fungi and bacterial spores. Our range of products not only eliminate bacteria but they also provide a protective coating on all surfaces for up to 28 days. Our products used in the disinfection process are:

                     Take Safety Precautions

You must ensure no one is in the building during the disinfection process. Once our Technicians have carried out their final swab test to ensure a successful pass grade, they will ensure the area remains sealed off to allow 30 - 60 minutes drying time. They will then contact the client to advise when the area is safe to return to work. In order to accommodate all our clients, AFM Ireland offer this service 7 days a week both during and out of hours.

                       Certificate of Completion

Once our ATP Test results record a successful pass grade, we will issue a Certificate of Completion to each client. This certificste will valid for 12 months from the date of the test results
